Kenan Malik on Diversity and the Welcoming City

What makes a city welcoming to residents and newcomers? And what does “diversity” actually mean? Kenan Malik cuts through the myths about diversity created by both left and right, so we can think more clearly and ethically about what kind of society we want to live in.

Kenan Malik is a British writer and broadcaster, and a columnist for the Observer. His latest book is The Quest for a Moral Compass: A Global History of Ethics.

He will be in Australia as the keynote speaker at the Welcoming Cities conference in Brisbane, prior to this appearance in Bendigo, where he will be in conversation with Julie Rudner, from the Community Planning and Development Program at La Trobe University, at 6pm, Monday 8 April.
