about us

Bendigo Writers Festival is an annual three-day event which gathers more than 100 writers for discussions about every kind of writing under the sun. It's an end-of-winter celebration that warms up our beautiful Central Victorian region with a friendly, exuberant, tempting program for young and old.

Bendigo Writers Festival About Us.jpg

We started up in 2012, what we thought would be a small experiment to see if our city and region would be interested.

The response was brilliant! So here we are, with our 7th Bendigo Writers Festival due to light up View Street in the heart of the city, from August 10-12.

Festival week will actually kick off on Thurdsay August 2, when Sam the Story Tram trundles along the rails through the centre of Bendigo, with our storyteller Narelle and a tramful of happy young readers. There'll be a host of events, too,  in the leadup to our schools program, Text Marks the Spot, which this year will link in with the Festival program.

Bendigo Writers Festival is an initiative of The Capital Venues and Events, a unit of the City of Greater Bendigo, and is supported by La Trobe University and Bendigo Tourism.
