Clive Hamilton
Clive Hamilton is Professor of Public Ethics at Charles Sturt University in Canberra.
He founded The Australia Institute, and has held visiting academic positions at Yale University, the University of Oxford, University College London and Sciences Po in Paris. His books include Growth Fetish, Affluenza (with Richard Denniss), Silencing Dissent, Requiem for a Species: Why we resist the truth about climate change, and What Do We Want? The story of protest in Australia. His 2017 book, Defiant Earth: The fate of humans in the Anthropocene, examined the philosophical implications of the Anthropocene.
In 2018, his controversial book, Silent Invasion: China’s Influence in Australia, was published by Hardie Grant after three other publishers pulled out citing fear of punishment from Beijing. It became an immediate best-seller.
His new book, written with Mareike Ohlberg, is Hidden Hand: How the Chinese Communist Party is reshaping the World.
