Anthony Lawrence

Anthony Lawrence, born 1957, in Tamworth, New South Wales, has published fifteen books of poetry and his work has won many of Australia’s most prestigious awards. including the Prime Ministers Literary Award for Poetry, the Kenneth Slessor Poetry Award (New South Wales Premier’s Literary Awards), the Judith Wright Calanthe Award (Queensland Premiers Literary Awards), the Philip Hodgins Memorial Medal, the Blake Poetry Prize, the Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Award (second prize), the Peter Porter Poetry Prize, the Newcastle Poetry Prize (1997, 2013, 2015), the Gwen Harwood Memorial Award and the Josephine Ulrick Poetry Award. He teaches Writing Poetry at Griffith University, Gold Coast, and lives on the far north coast of New South Wales.
