Alice Pung
Alice Pung OAM is an award-winning author from Melbourne, Australia. Her books Unpolished Gem and Growing Up Asian in Australia are set texts in high schools around the nation. Her Father's Daughter won the Western Australia Premiers' Award, and her novel Laurinda won the Ethel Turner Prize at the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards. One Hundred Days was shortlisted for the 2022 Miles Franklin Award and has been optioned for development as a film.
Alice and her friend Sher Rill Ng have worked on a number of award-winning children’s books, including the Millie Mak series, and Be Careful, Xiao Xin. Alice has also written the Marly books for the Our Australian Girl series, and When Granny Came to Stay, with Sally Soweol Han. In 2022, Alice was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for her services to literature, and in 2024 The Society of Women Writers Alice Award.
