Ita Mehrotra
Ita Mehrotra is a graphic novelist and artist educator based out of New Delhi, India. She is the author of the highly acclaimed Shaheen Bagh, A Graphic Recollection (Yoda Press, 2021), which brought together moments and memories from the nationwide Anti-CAA protests in India. Her book Uprooted (Westland, 2025) explores ongoing community led forest rights struggles in the Uttarakhand Himalayas. Ita’s non-fiction comics and illustrated stories, often stemming from engagements within socio-political movements around her and from a feminist lens, have been published and exhibited widely over the past decade with The Wire, Goethe Institute, Fumetto Festival Lucerne, Zubaan Books, Yoda Press, Ad Astra Comix, popula.com, and KHOJ Artists Association, among others. Ita leads arts programmes with community libraries, learning centres and rural schools across India, and is Visiting Faculty at Ashoka University.
She is a recipient of the Arts for Good Fellowship (Singapore International Foundation), Fumetto Apprenticeship Grant (Swiss Arts Council), Gender-Bender Arts Grant (Sandbox Collective & Goethe Institute), Young Connectors of the Future Fellowship (Swedish Institute), Negotiating Routes Art & Ecology Grant (KHOJ Artists Association), Sciences Po Exchange Programme (Sciences Po Paris & Delhi University), among others.
